Hairstyles that complement your face shape.

I am almost certain that at some point in life, everyone has gone into a salon wondering what hairstyle would best suit their face shape. I have also had friends make some particular hairstyles that looks so funny on them. Several times, I had to give them some tiny bits of advice for future purposes. Today, I have decided to put this piece of information out here hoping it would help someone.

There are several face shapes but mainly seven. These seven come with different characteristics and so, must be addressed differently. We have the Oval shape, Round shape, Square shape, Diamond shape, Heart shape, Pear shape, and the Rectangular shape. All this face shapes are a lot more beautiful when dressed appropriately. Without further ado, let’s discuss their characteristics and style of beautification.

Oval shape: This face shape is wide, but longer than its wide. It contains a jaw that is narrower than the cheekbones. Almost any hairstyle fits this shape of face due to its features. Try adding layers near the cheekbones, lips, or chin to accentuate the feature. Also note that any hair length looks good.

Round shape: It can also be known as the circle shape because of the characteristics. It has a wide hairline and fullness at and below the cheekbones. Long hair helps to lengthen the face. Avoid very short, cropped hairstyles or styles with fullness at the sides as this will make the face look fatter and shorter. Instead, long layers do the magic for this face shape. Recommended hairstyles are off center parts, swept back styles.

Square shape: This face shape has a wide hairline and jaw line. Your face is as wide as its long but with a more angular shape than a round face. To style, try short to medium hairstyles, wavy styles, bangs, and hairstyles that add volume to the top. Avoid long straight hairs.

Diamond shape: Imagine the shape of a diamond and you’re already determining the shape of this face. It t has a narrow chin and forehead(approximately equal lengths) and widest at the cheekbones. Hairstyles that best suit have narrower sides and fullness at the chin. Bob is amazing! Also try tucking hair behind ears to help accentuate your prominent cheekbones. Mind you, this face shape is flexible with hairstyles but you need to avoid hiding cheekbones, and leave weight at the nape of the neck.

Heart shape: A beautiful shape indeed. It has features such as a wider forehead and narrower chin. The chin is very emphasized so you need to draw focus to other parts of the face. You do not want your jaw standing out so long as it might look awkward. Hence, the need to balance it. Keep the style fuller around the jaw to add weight to the narrower chin while using side bangs to disguise the width of the forehead. Bobs do a great work in making the jaw line appear more full. Avoid straight hair all to the back as this would make the face look too long and the forehead too wide and out.

Pear shape: Sometimes called the triangular face, has small or narrow forehead and a larger jawline. Longer styles help disguise the width or rather prominence of the jawline. The most important thing here, is to add volume to the top in order to add fullness to the top of the face. You can try fringes because you need to avoid leaving the forehead empty. Long hairs are preferable but if at all you want to make a shorter hair cut, add volume to the top.

Rectangular/ Oblong face: As the rectangle implies, the top and bottom are equal. This means the forehead and the lower face are the same shape, with long sides. Longer hair pulls the face down making it appear longer. Shorter hair are a better fit as they reduce the length of the face and make the sides look width and length look more in sync. Curls also do a good job in making the face wider.

I sincerely hope that these ideas help you in choosing the next hairstyle to best suit your face shape.
